Two years ago today we welcomed our newest blessings: Mason Gregory (5 lbs. 9 oz @11:47 am) and Mya Elizabeth (5 lbs. 13 oz. @ 11:53 am). In some ways it feels like they were just born yesterday and in other ways it feels like they should be turning five today! Here are a few pictures of how the day went...I must be honest, I think I have a touch of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder over the whole ordeal, yet my heart is filled with overwhelming gratitude to the Lord for His powerful hand that offered healing and restoration.
Ryan and I still find ourselves looking at Mason and Mya then looking at each other and saying, "I can't believe we have twins!" or "I can't believe there are two of them!" I'm not sure when the shock factor is going to wear off, but we are still in awe of the fact that God created two completely different children at the same time, in the same location.
As a side note, I am considering having a t-shirt made that reads: NO, they aren't identical...one is a boy and one is a girl! On the back of that t-shirt it would say: Yes, they are still twins even if they don't look alike." Yeesh! I don't need a t-shirt that says this but you wouldn't believe how many random people walk up to me OUT OF THE BLUE and ask about our fertility process. It is so off the wall...even men once in a while. We didn't use any fertility drugs or anything, but if we had I don't think I would want to discuss the details of it with a perfect stranger at Safeway.
I had to throw in a picture of my belly...(I would love to put a real belly shot on here (simply for SHOCK factor...I was HUGE), but I'm sure many of you would rather not see my bare belly :))
PS: Sorry about the random order, but I am (yet again) struggling with blogger. I worked on this dumb post most of today...Hoperfully I will get it all right one of these days...
Ryan with both babies at Mya's spot in the NICU
Still at the NICU for one of Mya's feedings...

So, for those of us who weren't around at the time, I think you should share the 'story'. When you found out you were having twins, how you reacted, what it was like when they were born, etc.
Look at your tiny bottom! :) You were so little...all belly! And you looked so great for probably having some stress and lack of sleep at your present. Happy 2nd birthday to your 'babies' :)
Good idea Robyn...In the near future I am going to do that! I think it would be a fun little memoir for their baby books as well. Thanks for the idea...it's now on my agenda!
That is a great idea! PS. I totally agree with Kristal, you looked amazing!
AHHHH! Love your belly picture! You were so cute! And amazing that your little self could carry TWO! That a girl! Happy Birthday to the "twins!" :)
